The Foundry team is responsible for defining, building and supporting our high volume reusable cloud platform(s) enabling next generation features. These systems are used by all teams at Life
360 and have tremendous impact on the overall operations of the product. Some of the maintained and owned services are the highest throughput in the company offering unique scaling challenges and opportunities.
This role is for an Staff Android Engineer working directly on the Life
360 Android app. This person will be an integral part of the team bringing high value new features to the Life
360 app and will be required to become experts in technologies supporting our highly visible mapping, communication, driving & safety features. As a member of the team it is expected that you will be highly involved in architecting, designing and leading development of the next generation of our systems and features.
For candidates based in the US, the salary range for this position is $167,000 to $280,500 USD. For candidates based out of Canada, the salary range for this position is $194,000 to $260,000 CAD.
Note:
Please be aware that the job title for positions in Canada will be "Developer" in lieu of "Engineer." We take into consideration an individual s background and experience in determining final salary - therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of medical, dental, vision, financial, and other benefits, as well as equity.
You’ll Do
- Work on a cross-functional team with close cooperation with Product, Design, Marketing & Data Science
- Opportunity to be on the leading edge of location experiences in a high-visibility team adding exciting new features to improve our users experience and the value they gain from Life
360 - Implement innovative features to bring families closer together through contextual awareness, improved geolocation, and better communication
- Participate in interviewing potential candidates and improving the candidate experience by providing feedback
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering, related field or equivalent practical experience
- 8+ years of experience building consumer-facing Android applications at scale, ideally in high-engagement, high-MAU products
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in Java/Kotlin, Gradle, and Android Studio
- Be a programming polyglot with an interest outside of just Android/Java/Kotlin
- Experience working on a commercial app (presently found on the app store)
- Passionate for technology and never-ending curiosity about the new features in Android
- Comfortable with multiple areas of the Android SDK
- Comfortable in a small, intense, and high-growth start-up environment
- Capable of operating autonomously given priorities
- Effectively communicates verbally and in writing
