As part of our next growth phase, we are transitioning all application development in-house. We are looking for motivated, high-impact developers who can quickly review an existing codebase, ramp up fast, and begin contributing to feature development immediately. Role Description
We are seeking a Mobile Application Developer to play a key role in building and scaling a next-generation navigation platform. This position is designed for a highly experienced, hands-on engineer who can quickly evaluate an existing codebase, contribute immediately, and help guide technical direction as development moves fully in-house.
You will work across mobile and backend integrations, collaborate closely with systems engineers and product designers, and take ownership of delivering a reliable, high-performance mobile experience. This role offers meaningful influence over architecture, development standards, and the evolution of a rapidly growing product.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the design, development, and maintenance of cross-platform mobile applications for iOS and Android.
- Review, refactor, and extend an existing codebase with a focus on scalability, performance, and maintainability.
- Lead API integrations supporting authentication, data synchronization, and real-time updates.
- Implement and optimize mapping, geolocation, and navigation features using platforms such as Google Maps, Mapbox, or Open Street Map .
- Integrate third-party location and discovery services including Mapbox, Foursquare, and Yelp.
- Establish and enforce best practices for clean architecture, modular code, testing, and performance optimization.
- Partner closely with UI/UX designers to translate product requirements into intuitive, polished mobile experiences.
- Participate in and lead code reviews, raising overall engineering quality and consistency.
- Troubleshoot complex issues across devices, operating systems, and environments.
- Support and improve deployment workflows across development, staging, and production.
Qualifications
Required:
- Expert knowledge using Python/Django and Ruby
- Expert-level experience with Python/Django and Ruby in production systems.
- 5+ years of professional experience in mobile application development.
- Strong hands-on experience with cross-platform frameworks such as Flutter, React Native, or Xamarin.
- Deep understanding of mobile application architecture, state management, and lifecycle patterns.
- Proven experience working with mapping SDKs, geolocation services, and navigation logic.
- Strong experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, make architectural decisions, and mentor other engineers.
- Excellent debugging, testing, and performance optimization skills.
Preferred:
- Prior experience building navigation, transportation, or real-time data platforms.
- Experience in startup or fast-growth environments requiring speed, ownership, and adaptability.
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and cloud-based or Dev Ops workflows.
