Overview

VetsEZ is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr. Software Developer to serve as a Technical Lead for a critical modernization initiative. This role will lead the transition of a legacy PHP application from Code Igniter to Laravel, setting the architectural direction, mentoring other developers, and driving the successful delivery of a cloud-based web solution. The ideal candidate brings deep Laravel experience, full-stack capability, and a passion for solving complex problems with clean, scalable code.

The candidate must reside within the continental US.

• Serve as a Sr. developer for the team, guiding design, development, and deployment of modern Laravel-based applications.
• Architect and lead the migration of legacy Code Igniter applications to Laravel, ensuring performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Mentor team members and foster knowledge-sharing across the team.
• Write clean, secure, and efficient code, with a strong emphasis on documentation and testing.
• Review and approve code written by peers to maintain code quality and consistency.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives via Microsoft Teams.
• Track time and deliverables accurately using internal tools and project tracking systems.
• Remain up to date with security best practices and modern development approaches.
• Demonstrate a self-directed approach to solving problems, continuous learning, and professional growth.
• Promote a user-first mindset and empathetic software design.

• 8+ years of professional experience in full-stack PHP development, with deep expertise in Laravel.
• Proven experience transitioning applications from legacy frameworks (Code Igniter) to Laravel.
• Excellent proficiency in modern JavaScript frameworks, particularly Vue.js.
• Strong understanding of front-end technologies: HTML, CSS, and preprocessors like SASS/LESS.
• Proficiency with Git for version control and Unix/Linux command-line environments.
• Experience building and integrating RESTful APIs.
• Strong attention to detail and user-centric thinking.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a government background clearance.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience with Docker and containerized environments.
• Familiarity with AWS cloud services and deployment pipelines.
• Proficiency in SQL and relational database fundamentals.
• Experience building and maintaining large-scale, secure, and performant web applications.
• Prior experience working in healthcare or government contracting environments.
• Passion for developing polished and intuitive user interfaces.
