Backend PHP Engineer

We are seeking a PHP Backend Developer with project coordination experience to support our backend and platform initiatives. This role is primarily hands-on backend engineering, ideal for someone who enjoys building and supporting production systems while also helping coordinate execution across distributed teams. The ideal candidate is technically strong in PHP/Laravel, comfortable debugging production systems, and experienced collaborating with offshore or distributed engineering teams.

• Location:
  Remote – Must work EST hours
• Compensation: This job is expected to pay about $50-55/hour W2
• 6-month contract potential for extension
• No Visa Sponsorship Available for this role

What You’ll Do:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using PHP (Laravel)
• Collaborate with offshore and distributed engineering teams to ensure clear requirements and task execution.
• Build and support third-party integrations (e.g., Boberdoo, Five9, Zoho, Twilio, and similar platforms).
• Review offshore deliverables for quality, completeness, and alignment with standards.
• Review backend implementations for correctness, performance, scalability, and maintainability.

What Gets You the Job:

• 4–6 years of professional PHP backend development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Laravel or Laravel-based systems.
• Experience building RESTful APIs and supporting third-party integrations.
• Proficiency with relational databases (MySQL, MSSQL, or Postgre
  
  SQL).
• Strong debugging skills and comfort working in production systems.
• Experience collaborating with offshore or distributed engineering teams.
