Overview
Debt Book is an industry-leading fintech software platform that revolutionizes the way local government, higher education, and healthcare finance teams work. Our cloud-based software helps these organizations manage debt, cash, leases, and subscriptions, streamline financial reporting, and share information simply with others. We are passionate about modernizing treasury management and simplifying accounting compliance in the public sector, enabling organizations to break through operational barriers to unlock strategic insights.
How We Work
- Our application is a Majestic Monolith built with Ruby on Rails, React, and Postgre
SQL. Our app is hosted in AWS, and we use Git Lab for our CI/CD pipelines and deployments. We use feature flags to allow us to continually integrate our code. - Our front-end is built with React, Type Script, and MUI React. We have an in-house library of accessible components documented in Story Book. These components are being used in new development, and we are in the process of updating existing pages to use them.
- Our back-end is a Ruby on Rails JSON API that communicates with a React SPA (single page application).
- All engineers work on the front-end, back-end, and database. Some engineers are more experienced in one area, but we can all do work in any part of the stack.
- We have a small dedicated infrastructure team, but our teams deploy and monitor their own code.
- Engineers collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and industry specialists to understand problems and design solutions. Engineers manage breaking down work into tickets and planning and managing projects.
- Participate in all stages of the SDLC: solution shaping, system design, ticket writing/breakdown, write full-stack code, review code, perform deployments, participate in monitoring, and gather data for reporting.
- Own the quality of your work. Write tests and work with your team to ensure everything works before merging and releasing.
- Work cross-functionally on your team to ensure work is scoped to deliver quickly and deliver the right functionality.
- Work collaboratively with other cross functional product-focused teams.
- 2+ years of related professional experience
- Experience with Ruby or React
- Some familiarity with front-end and back-end web development
- Ability to communicate complicated technical concepts well with teammates in all functions, including non-technical roles
Debt Book is a fast-growing company where we dream big, move fast, make an impact, and bring joy to everything we do. Our core values drive our success as an organization, and we are looking for talented teammates who share our passion for challenging the status quo, innovating in all we do, and wanting to make a difference.
