OverviewWe are seeking a hands-on Senior Technical Architect / Tech Lead to lead the modernization of a legacy Workers’ Compensation policy administration platform
. This role will own solution direction, architecture decisions, and technical accountability while guiding a small onshore/offshore team through a cloud-native rewrite on Microsoft Azure
.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in .NET Core 8, C#, Azure, and microservices
, with the ability to reverse engineer and modernize complex insurance rating logic from legacy systems into scalable, maintainable cloud services. Strong insurance domain knowledge—especially policy administration concepts
—is required.
Primary Skills & Qualifications (Must-Have)
- 8–12+ years of software engineering experience with demonstrated tech lead or architect responsibilities
- C# / .NET Core (client stack: .NET Core
8) - Microservices architecture and backend/API development
- SQL and data access patterns
- Proven experience with legacy code refactoring and modernization
- Familiarity with service mesh concepts in microservices architectures
- Insurance domain knowledge with understanding of policy administration concepts and terminology
- Strong communication skills and experience leading distributed onshore/offshore teams
Preferred Skills (Nice-to-Have)
- Workers’ Compensation insurance experience
- Direct experience with policy rating logic and rules-based systems
- Experience modernizing mixed-technology estates (e.g., Delphi, Java, .NET) to Azure
- Experience supporting transition from project delivery to BAU/run teams
- Exposure to Azure Dev Ops pipelines, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code
