Senior Software Architect - Microservices & AI Transformation

Our client is a late-stage education-technology start-up that provides software to higher-education institutions. Their web portal and mobile application offers a digital student experience platform that unifies campus life, integrating academic data, student organizations, and admin services. They are seeking a senior software architect to guide the technical direction of their digital transformation, modernize their tech stack, and enable the build of a next-gen AI-forward product suite.

Senior Software Architect

Remote, with occasional quarterly meet-ups in downtown Boston. Candidates must be based in ET, preferably in the Northeast, and readily able to make occasional trips to Boston. Must be eligible to work for any US employer to be considered. No sponsorship or C2C can be offered at this time.

• 10+ years professional experience, with expertise in application architecture and system design
• Strong background in microservices, API design, and event-driven systems
• Experience modernizing legacy tech stacks and providing technical architecture to support digital transformation efforts
• Experience/knowledge of AI/ML and their practical integration into applications
• Strong experience designing and optimizing databases (Postgre
  
  SQL, MySQL, Dynamo
  
  DB, or similar)
• Clear progression from hands-on software engineer with backend expertise, to tech leadership focused on architecture and design (Less focused on people management)
• Strong communication skills and ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Demonstrated experience working with C-level and speaking with boards on new developments and digital transformation initiatives
• Expertise with cloud-native architecture and AWS cloud services

• Advanced degree in IT, Computer Science or STEM related field
• Demonstraed experience working with medium-sized organization and being in the driver seat for a digital transformation, from an application architecture and AI/ML perspective
• Background with .NET and AWS

200, base salary (Based on experience), plus 20-30% annual cash target bonus
