Quality Advocate

Our Quality Advocates are responsible for being the voice of quality throughout the software development life cycle. Quality advocates perform exploratory quality control testing in order to determine whether each individual feature or bug fix has been completed correctly and completely. Quality Advocates also inspect and collaboratively refine the development processes to ensure quality is assured in every step. At Menlo, Quality Advocates work in pairs and are a shared resource, contributing to different projects as needed.

The sharing of technical and project knowledge is a natural part of our process, preventing any one person from becoming a tower of knowledge.

Job Title: Quality Advocate

Location: In-person at our office in Ann Arbor, MI

Employment Type: Full-Time

• Exploratory testing to ensure software solutions have been implemented completely, do not contain bugs, and fulfill end-user and client requirements.
• Working with the other roles to decide when each feature is complete, and identifying key issues (such as performance problems, design gaps, and bugs).
• Identifying edge cases and working with the team (particularly Developers and High-Tech Anthropologists®) to determine those that need to be addressed.
• Serving as a liaison between roles and clients to ensure they are considering quality and how their work fits into the overall architecture and that it supports the business model.
• Helping clients and team members make informed trade‑off decisions and being the voice for quality in those decisions.
• Prioritizing tasks and projects in coordination with Project Managers to ensure client needs are met in a timely fashion.
• Coaching and mentoring other personnel in subject areas in which you have knowledge.

• Experience working in software development or other technical experience
• Quickly learns and understands a number of software systems
• Able to retain what has been learned, and “context switch” between multiple projects

• Our interview process requires candidates to fulfill a 1-day and 3-week trial period on‑site in Ann Arbor, MI

• Assisting Project Managers, High-tech Anthropologists®, Software Developers, and others with their project responsibilities
• Assisting the Menlo Factory Floor Manager with the operation of the Menlo Software Factory
• Assisting the Experience team with marketing activities
• Assisting the Menlo Factory Floor Manager with sales qualification and proposal activities
• Evaluating interim and finished systems
• Evaluating and providing feedback to other personnel
• Supporting Menlo’s relationships with its clients and personnel
