Senior Java Backend Engineer

Hybrid 4 onsite / 1 work from home in Greenwood Village, CO

Our client seeks a backend engineer to design and deliver APIs and services using Java 17 and Spring Boot. The role will build REST and Graph

QL interfaces, integrate with Postgre

SQL and Apache Cassandra, and implement Kafka-driven workflows with Redis caching. You will contribute clean, tested code within established architectural standards while collaborating with frontend, QA, Dev Ops, and architecture stakeholders. The work supports modernization and coexistence with legacy systems.

Rate: $40.00 to $50.00/hr. w2

• Analyze existing Java backend services to understand business logic and data flows.
• Implement APIs using Java 17 and Spring Boot within a shared backend platform.
• Design and build Graph
  
  QL APIs aligned with frontend requirements.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs.
• Work with Postgre
  
  SQL and Apache Cassandra data stores.
• Support data migration and legacy system coexistence strategies.
• Use Redis for caching and performance optimization.
• Write unit and integration tests to ensure production-ready code.
• Follow architectural patterns, coding standards, and review processes.
• Collaborate with the Backend Architect, frontend, QA, and Dev Ops teams.

• 5+ years of backend development experience.
• Strong understanding of microservices or modular backend architecture.
• Expertise in Java 17, Spring Boot, and Spring Framework.
• Strong experience with Postgre
  
  SQL.
• Working knowledge of Apache Cassandra.
• Experience with Kafka-based event-driven systems.
• Experience using Redis.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Docker-based application development (preferred).
• Maven builds and dependency management (preferred).
• AWS experience, especially S3 (preferred).
• Strong unit and integration testing experience (preferred).
• Splunk or similar logging and monitoring tools (preferred).
• Experience with legacy system migration or modernization (preferred).
