Position SummaryAs a Software Engineer II, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex software systems. This role involves working on more advanced projects compared to entry-level positions and requires a deeper understanding of software engineering principles. In this role you will also mentor other less experienced engineers.
Geo-Salary InformationState specific pay scales for this role are as follows:
- $85,480 to $157,868 (CA, NJ, NY, WA, HI, AK, MD, CT, RI, MA)
- $77,709 to $143,516 (NV, OR, AZ, CO, WY, TX, ND, MN, MO, IL, WI, FL, GA, MI, OH, VA, PA, DE, VT, NH, ME)
- $69,938 to $129,165 (UT, , MT, NM, SD, NE, KS, OK, IA, AR, LA, MS, AL, TN, KY, IN, SC, NC, WV)
- Write high-quality code for medium-complexity scenarios with good test coverage.
- Review and translate product requirements into robust designs to ensure high-quality applications that are modular, configurable, maximize reuse, and are fast, effective, user-friendly, secure, compliant, scalable, and maintainable.
- Assist with any application system support needs.
- Participate in design and code reviews of applications to ensure best practices, adherence to Mercury standards, and high quality.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to other engineers on the team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence within Mercury engineering.
- Minimum:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related fields Or equivalent combination of education and experience. - Preferred:
Master’s Degree in Computer Science.
- Minimum: 2 to 4 years of programming experience.
- Preferred: 5 or more years of experience with Java or Python.
- Preferred: 2 or more years of experience with frontend technologies (Angular or React).
- Preferred: 2 or more years of experience with SQL and No
SQL databases. - Preferred: 1 or more years of experience with CI/CD technologies using Jenkins, Git Hub, Docker or Kubernetes.
- Preferred:
Skilled in APIs using modern protocols like REST and gRPC. - Preferred:
Exposure to using AI SDKs. - Preferred:
Exposure to Guidewire.
- Minimum:
Experienced in programming in one or more industry-standard languages (e.g., Java, Python, Go, C++, JavaScript). - Minimum:
Knowledgeable in leveraging various data structures, algorithms, and design patterns. Familiar with relational databases, No
SQL, and caching solutions. - Minimum:
Strong problem-solving skills. Good communication abilities. Capable of working independently on simple tasks. - Minimum:
Ability to collaborate and influence team members to address impediments and deliver desired results. - Preferred:
Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
