Central Garden & Pet has an exciting opportunity for an Enterprise Application Developer
. As part of the Business Integration Team, this role has significant responsibilities related to designing, developing, and supporting mobile, web, and desktop applications that interface with the core business systems utilized at the company. This position requires cross-functional leadership skills, a collaborative mindset, and a strong technical skillset. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to problem-solve in ambiguous situations and the capability to deliver solutions within time and scope.
The candidate for this role will be an individual contributor with hands‑on experience with no direct reports. This is a remote position.
- Work with business stakeholders and technical leads to understand, document, and articulate application requirements and develop appropriate solutions.
- Must be able to research application frameworks and develop new cross-platform tools utilizing those frameworks.
- Create high‑level design documents with visual diagrams of system architecture, functionality, and process flows.
- Design testing procedures to support end‑to‑end documented testing of proposed changes.
- Strong project management and organizational skills and the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, quickly changing environment. Ability to keep up with multiple projects and understand the impact of projects within a larger system.
- Provide support for existing production applications, quickly resolving issues while also performing root cause analysis leading to corrective action to prevent future problems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Computer Engineering or another related discipline. Some education with strong field experience would be considered.
- 1+ years as a systems analyst or software developer.
- Experience with development in QA & production deployment leveraging Git to support CI/CD.
- Understanding of and experience with standard software quality assurance and testing processes and methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills and writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and proactively within tight, concurrent deadlines with accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Familiarity with SAP and/or Microsoft Dynamics is a bonus.
- Familiarity with business processes such as Accounts Payables and Shipping is a bonus.
