Software Engineer
Stage:
Pre-Seed / Backed by Eniac and Euclid Ventures
Ambra is building Vertical AI for Emergency Medical Services. Ambulance agencies lose ~$40B annually to a complex web of payor rules and insurance denials. We're fixing that with AI that writes documentation, catches errors before claims go out, bills intelligently and fights denials automatically.
We're pre‑seed, backed by Eniac and Euclid Ventures, live with customers, and actively closing our first $1M ARR deals. This is a rare chance to be the very first hire with a true founding seat to build out a company from ground 0 in San Francisco.

About YouYou’re an engineer who wants to start a company someday. You’re obsessive about craft, have strong opinions on what good product feels like, and get energy from talking to customers. You want to build something meaningful in EMS, an industry untouched by AI. You thrive when there’s no playbook
You’re the kind of person who:
- Ships something, feels good for 30s, then immediately notices what could be better
- Intuitively knows when to move fast and when to get the details right
- Actually enjoys figuring out what customers need, not just what they ask for
- Wants real ownership and real equity, not 0.01% of a unicorn
- Work directly with EMS teams to understand pain points and translate customer needs into elegant, resilient systems
- Build customer‑facing features for our three core products (Capture, Complete, Resolve)
- Ship fast in a 0 to 1 environment, owning end‑to‑end dev from architecture to deployment
- Make technical decisions that shape the product and company for years
- Help us build the engineering culture and hire the next wave of talent
Must‑haves:
- 1‑3 years building full‑stack products end‑to‑end
- High bar for quality, attention to detail, obsessively fast learner, clear communicator
- Experience with APIs, LLMs/RAG architectures
- Strong React skills + design/UX sensibilities (you know what good product looks and feels like)
- Authorized to work in the US (no visa sponsorship)
Bonus Points
- You’ve been a founder, founding engineer or worked in a high‑ownership environment
- Familiarity with Go, Postgre
SQL, and Google Cloud - Vertical domain knowledge in Public Safety, 911, Healthcare, or Insurance Billing

Why join Ambra today:- Real founding equity:
Generous ownership as employee #1 - Direct impact with your work shipping to customers immediately and not into a backlog
- The (now rare) opportunity to define an industry that has not yet been touched by AI
- A meaningful mission: building for 911 front lines to protect the financial sustainability and access of a service that exists to rescue people on their worst days
- In person in SF 2‑3 days/week with lunch + dinner on office days
- Health insurance + monthly wellness stipend for gym/fitness/appointments
- Occasional travel for team off sites and customer visits
- Unlimited PTO + 1 week/quarter “work from anywhere”
This is a true 0 to 1 role. You’ll be the only engineer for a bit, which means you’ll own technical decisions, wear multiple hats, and shape everything we build. Some days you’re writing Go, other days you’re on a call with a fire chief in Texas explaining to him how billing works. You’ll have autonomy, responsibility, and the space to do your most creative work.
But you need to be comfortable with ambiguity and moving fast.
If you want structure, clear requirements, or a senior engineer reviewing every decision, this isn’t the right fit. But if you want to build something from scratch with a team that cares about quality as much as you do, email:
