We’re looking for a skilled Senior or Staff Backend Engineer to join our growing engineering team!

In this role, you will leverage your deep programming expertise to design and build scalable, reliable backend systems. The ideal candidate has strong experience in application system architecture and design, as well as proven leadership skills, whether through serving as a tech lead or guiding complex projects.

You’ll have the opportunity to work on a platform that sits at the intersection of engineering, AI, modelling, and real‑world decision automation. As a cross‑functional high‑impact role, you will influence foundational technical decisions and collaborate with a world‑class engineering team solving meaningful and complex problems!

• Contribute to backend server‑side development to ensure our application is extensible, scalable, and secure.
• Recognise and prioritise between Customer deliverables & Tech debt to develop a sustainable software suite of products.
• Enjoy designing and architecting complex frameworks for applying ML techniques to large data volumes and simplifying labour‑intensive processes.
• Deliver resilient enterprise software solutions.

• 10+ years of backend‑focused experience in the field of application programming and complex API development.
• Strong working experience with Java or Scala.
• Proven experience developing thoughtful backend system design and architecture with scalability in mind.
• Additional Rust experience highly desired across greenfield projects.
• Experience reading and understanding complex enterprise‑grade code, quickly contributing to it, and suggesting improvements.
• Working experience writing SQL queries.
• Strong CS foundation (data structures, asynchronous programming).
• Excellence in test‑writing discipline.
• Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills working in a high‑growth environment.
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity.
• BS or MS in Computer Science (or equivalent experience).

The salary for this position is based on an array of factors unique to each candidate – such as years and depth of experience, set skills, certifications, etc. We are hiring for different levels; our recruiting team will let you know if you qualify for a different role or range.

Salary is one component of the total compensation package, which includes meaningful equity, excellent healthcare, flexible time off, and other benefits and perks.

Pay range: $200,000–245,000.
