While many roles at Coinbase are remote‑first, we are not remote‑only. In‑person participation is required throughout the year. Team and company‑wide offsites are held multiple times annually to foster collaboration, connection, and alignment. Attendance is expected and fully supported.

• Architect and develop distributed systems while providing technical structure to teams.
• Lead technical direction and mentor other engineers on the team.
• Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with technical expertise.
• Design and implement foundational infrastructure components used by every engineering team in production (e.g., dynamic configuration, secrets storage, container orchestration).
• Write high‑quality, well‑tested code to meet the needs of customers.
• Collaborate across the organization, helping engineers think big and take risks.

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Proven experience architecting and developing solutions to ambiguous problems with significant impact.
• Passion for building an open financial system that brings the world together.

• Experience growing rapidly in a company (e.g., from 10 to 100s of engineers).
• Experience with blockchains such as Bitcoin or Ethereum.
• Experience decomposing a large monolith into microservices.
• Proficiency with Golang, Ruby, Docker, Sinatra, Rails, Postgre
  
  SQL.
• Experience building financial, high‑reliability, or security systems.
• Crypto‑forward experience, including interacting with Ethereum addresses, ENS, dApps, or blockchain‑based services.

Target annual salary: $218,025—$256,500 USD, plus bonus eligibility, equity eligibility, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)).

Remote work is supported; however, in‑person participation is required throughout the year.
