About
The Role
We are seeking a Web Software Developer to provide support to our federal government customer. The Web Software Developer will provide development, optimization, improvement, deployment, and ongoing maintenance for Microbe Trace, a bioinformatics tool developed to support cluster detection and characterization methods.
This is a fully remote position. Candidates must be located in the United States. Occasional on-site work may be required at the client's location in Atlanta, GA, based on client's needs.
Responsibilities
- Integrate with new and available bioinformatics tools and platforms.
- Further optimize existing visualizations.
- Develop and add new functionalities in Microbe Trace for network and phylogenetic analyses.
- Develop and deploy web-based version of Microbe Trace for increased cluster detection efficiency.
- Develop methods to automate testing of Microbe Trace using available open-source tools.
- Maintain Microbe Trace code by fixing bugs quickly.
- Manage development progress using project management tools like Zen Hub.
- Enhance real-time response capabilities and prevention by integrating and visualizing data with increased efficiency and improved user access.
- Train coworkers, collaborators, and state and federal partners to use these new tools/platforms.
- Maintain regular communication with the customer, provide weekly updates on tasks and provide demonstrations at team meetings, individual meetings, Zen Hub, emails, and reports.
- Collaborate with a Bioinformatician to maintain, improve, and optimize Microbe Trace's functionality for users.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a web software developer or full-stack developer providing development, optimization, integration, improvement, deployment and maintenance required.
- Advanced proficiency in Angular, Type Script and JavaScript required.
- Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and platforms highly desired.
- Experience developing and deploying web-based version of Microbe Trace or similar highly desired.
- Experience developing methods to automate testing using available open-source tools highly desired.
- Experience integrating and visualizing data highly desired.
- Experience managing development progress using project management tools like Zen Hub or similar.
- Demonstrated proactive approaches to troubleshooting issues and problem solving with strong analytical decision-making capabilities.
- Familiarity with Azure, CSS, HTML, Tomcat, Apache preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work in a team environment.
- Prior experience supporting CDC or similar US government client preferred.
- Ability to pass required Federal background screening, obtain and maintain government clearance.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computational Media, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or closely related field. Extensive relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
