Backend Developer
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Telephony Engineer. In this role, you will play a crucial part in designing, implementing, and supporting innovative telephony solutions that enhance enterprise communication. With strong expertise in Vonage systems, you will help build scalable, reliable cloud-based voice and messaging platforms. Your work will ensure seamless integration with internal systems and third-party services, making a significant impact on communication efficiency and effectiveness across the organization.
Accountabilities- Design, develop, configure, and support scalable communication solutions using Vonage Business and Vonage Communications APIs
- Integrate voice, SMS, and messaging services into existing enterprise platforms
- Develop and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs to support communication workflows
- Troubleshoot integration issues and ensure secure, reliable telephony operations
- Provide L2/L3 support for telephony-related incidents and service requests
- Monitor system performance, conduct regular health checks, and manage upgrades and patches
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver communication solutions
- Maintain documentation for system configurations, troubleshooting processes, and best practices
- Ensure compliance with security, performance, and reliability standards
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers for issue resolution and enhancements
- 5+ years of experience as a Telephony Engineer or in a similar communications engineering role
- Strong hands-on experience with Vonage telephony systems, including Vonage Communications APIs and contact center solutions
- Solid understanding of VoIP technologies, SIP, RTP, PBX systems, and call routing concepts
- Proficiency in backend programming languages such as Java, C#, or Python
- Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, webhooks, and asynchronous processing
- Experience working with cloud-based telephony and unified communication platforms
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities effectively
