Job Description

We have an opening for a Software Developer
. You will work on new and emerging enterprise web applications supporting critical business applications that support the Laboratory’s mission. You will contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) packages and sophisticated Java-based Web Application Services with JavaScript-based Angular UI. This position is in the Enterprise Applications Services (EAS) Division within the Computing Directorate, in support of the LivIT Business Enablement Program Area.

This position offers a hybrid schedule, blending in-person and virtual presence. You will have the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week.

• Contribute to the development of a range of web-based applications/projects including analytical, graphical user interface, database, and visualization applications.
• Participate in the requirements definition, analysis, design, implementation, debugging, testing, and optimization of web-based applications.
• Participate in the requirements definition, analysis, implementation, debugging, testing, and configuration of COTS applications.
• Utilize independent judgement to contribute to the fulfillment of technical projects and organizational objectives, functioning as an effective team member on multi-disciplinary teams.
• Engage with other developers frequently to share relevant knowledge, opinions, and recommendations for solutions.
• Support critical business functions through the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of applications and systems using tools such as Java, Play Framework, Spring Boot, JDBC, JavaScript, TOAD, Hibernate, SQL, Oracle, and related technologies.
• Follow established software development standards and contribute to their future improvement.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Ability to obtain and maintain a US DOE L-level security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field or equivalent experience
• Foundational experience in software development using Java, JavaScript, SQL, and/or PL/SQL
• Basic familiarity with modern software frameworks and libraries (e.g. Play Framework, JPA, Angular)
• Basic understanding of the software project life cycle including feasibility, requirements, design, implementation, integration, test and deployment
• Experience using common development tools such as Jira, Git, Intelli
  
  J, and/or TOAD or SQL Developer
• Fundamental interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of personnel and ability to work independently in a multi-disciplinary team environment
• Sufficient verbal and written communication skills for effective team collaboration

• Familiarity with LLNL policies and procedures, as well as business processes and operations

$79,776 - $148,608 annually

This is the lowest to highest salary LLNL in good faith believes it would pay for this role at the time of posting; pay will not be below any applicable local minimum wage. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on factors including competencies, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
