- Programmer Developer II: $77,900.00 – $99,320.00
We are looking for a talented Programmer Developer to join our IT Markets team. As a key contributor you will support and maintain the mission‑critical applications essential for SPP’s System Operations team in overseeing the bulk electric grid and wholesale power markets. The IT Markets team is responsible for the performance, optimization, and reliability of these applications, which are crucial for day‑to‑day operations of the electric grid and power markets.
ResponsibilitiesYour specific duties will include providing support for the real‑time Market Operating System, ensuring that it operates seamlessly and efficiently. You will also be an active participant in a 24/7 on‑call rotation, which is essential to maintaining the continuous operation of these critical systems. This on‑call responsibility allows direct involvement in troubleshooting and resolving any issues that may arise, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
As part of this dynamic and collaborative team, you will leverage your programming and development skills to contribute to the overall success of the IT Markets team, helping drive innovative solutions, optimize system performance, and support the reliable operation of SPP’s essential systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an Information Technology‑related field or equivalent job‑related experience
- Senior Level: Six (6) years of applicable Information Technology development and support experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Level II:
Three (3) years of Information Technology Development/Support experience - Expert working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, UNIX or Linux operating systems, application development and support, and database management systems
- Expert in one or more modern programming languages
- Expert troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and analytical skills
- Expert written and oral communication skills
- Expert working knowledge of SDLC and project life cycle methods and practices
- Excellent customer service and organizational skills
- Understanding of and compliance with SPP Policies and Procedures
- Five (5) or more years of applicable utility industry experience
- Comprehensive understanding of SPP’s core business model
- This is a full‑time, hybrid position based in Little Rock, Arkansas. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional extended hours as needed.
- This position requires minimal travel (approximately 10%).
