Our Client is a leading consulting firm engaged in a rewrite of an application. They are seeking an experienced QA Specialist for an 18-month contract located in downtown Houston, Texas. The individual must be in Houston and must be onsite.
About the RoleOur Client is seeking an experienced QA Specialist. You will join our project team in the migration of a legacy ASP.NET Web Forms (ASPX) application to a .NET Core 10 REST API backend with an Angular frontend. The ideal candidate will have experience in Software Quality Assurance, Test Automation, and Test Case Management. This role requires you to be on-site in downtown Houston 5 days a week and focuses on providing technical expertise and delivering robust solutions across complex enterprise environments.
Responsibilities- Manage and maintain test cases and execution results in Azure Dev Ops Test Suite and Service Now.
- Leverage Git Hub Copilot to accelerate the creation, maintenance, and execution of automated test scripts and test data generation.
- Integrate automated tests into Azure Dev Ops CI/CD Pipelines to enable continuous quality validation.
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites for Angular UI and .NET Core 10 REST API endpoints using frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, or Cypress.
- Write detailed test cases and test plans based on functional requirements, technical specifications, and user stories.
- Execute manual and automated regression, integration, and end-to-end test cycles.
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and project leadership to identify test coverage gaps and quality risks.
- Participate in requirements and design reviews to provide early feedback on testability and quality concerns.
- Document and track defects, verify fixes, and perform root cause analysis.
- Develop and maintain QA documentation including test strategies, test plans, and traceability matrices.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance and test engineering.
- Proficiency in designing and implementing automated test frameworks (Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or equivalent).
- Experience writing test cases from functional and technical specifications.
- Proficiency with Azure Dev Ops Test Suite for test case management, execution tracking, and reporting.
- Experience with Service Now for test case and defect management.
- Experience with API testing tools such as Postman, REST Assured, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into Azure Dev Ops Pipelines.
- Experience using Git Hub Copilot or similar AI coding assistants to generate and maintain test scripts.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience with performance or load testing tools (e.g., k6, JMeter, Azure Load Testing).
- Familiarity with Midstream industry, NGL/Gas pipeline operations, or volumetric accounting and measurement systems.
- Experience testing applications during a legacy-to-modern migration (e.g., ASPX to SPA/REST API).
- Experience with SCADA or EFM data systems.
- ISTQB Foundation or Advanced Level certification.
- Experience with SQL Server for test data queries and validation.
- Experience on projects using Agile methodology.
40 hours per week with flexibility to accommodate core work hours between 8:30am through 3pm. Resource should be able to accommodate periodic 7:30am meetings with Operations personnel.
Required on-site in Houston, TX on Mondays through Thursdays; remote work permitted on Fridays.
Must be local to Houston, TX.
