Principal Backend Software Engineer
Compensation Range: $145,000 - $165,000 base, with up to 12% of base salary as a bonus.

Your WorkFeathr’s SaaS platform is critical to the value we deliver to our clients. As a Principal Engineer, you will grow and maintain the technical components that enable our customers accessing our advertising, marketing, and web analytics capabilities. You will work under the direction of the Associate Director of Product Engineering on backend software development projects, owning code from planning to retirement and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to develop requirements, design technical solutions, implement, deploy, monitor and address issues.
Your Experience- 6+ years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on SaaS products.
- Expertise in designing, building, and maintaining large-scale distributed systems.
- Professional experience owning a process that includes shipping a complicated piece of software to real users.
- Working with both synchronous and asynchronous environments.
- Advanced knowledge of Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, Mongo
DB, Redis, and Python. - Experience with advanced Elasticsearch APIs.
- Expertise in Mongo
DB queries and aggregations and regular maintenance. - Expertise in AWS infrastructure and services (EC2 and EKS at a minimum).
- Experience with self-hosted Drone CI/CD.
- Patience and determination to work through complex technical troubleshooting obstacles.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and manage relationships with internal and external partners.
- Constantly look to hone your craft and share what you learn with your colleagues.

- Pragmatic and customer-oriented—building software to help customers, not for the sake of building software.
- Comfortable adapting to quickly changing conditions, such as shifting between projects during a critical outage.
- Careful, detail-oriented approach to building software—ask questions first and write code later.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including explaining technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Your code solves immediate problems while building a sustainable system that lasts into the future.
- Understand how to ingest and transform event streams from a variety of sources.
- Plan and iterate over the product development lifecycle.
- Work alongside other Product Team engineers to design and develop features.
- Break down complex technical challenges into manageable work components, ensuring clear deliverables.
- Receive feedback on your code and features and iterate.
- Collaborate with members of other departments to ensure technical solutions meet the company’s business interests.
- Ensure the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of Feathr’s data and operations.
This position is Remote to candidates located in Eastern and Central time zones or with the option to work from our headquarters in Gainesville, FL. If you aren’t familiar, Gainesville is a hip, mid‑sized city with a highly innovative population and an attainable standard of living.
