As a Sr Engineer, you will serve as a technical expert within a product team focused on enabling Salesforce Marketing Cloud capabilities and customer engagement capabilities. This team operates at the intersection of engineering and marketing technology, building and supporting backend Java services, integrations, and data pipelines that power campaign execution, personalization, and customer data activation across enterprise systems. You will apply deep expertise in integrating applications across platforms, working with diverse API contracts, data models, and cloud services (e.g., AWS).This

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Designing Solutions Apply technical knowledge to support SFMC campaign activation and integration with Java or other object-oriented services (e.g., Apex, C#)Solve problems independently aligned to broader software engineering strategy and platform direction
Design integrations across Java or other object-oriented services and SFMC supporting scalable campaign activation patterns
Developing Software Build Java or other object-oriented services and SFMC integrations independently and collaboratively with the team Deliver reliable, scalable, and performant solutions meeting team expectations for system stability
Develop APIs and integrations supporting campaign execution, orchestration, and data activation
Improve system stability, performance, and maintainability across Java services and SFMC platforms
Learning and Applying New Techniques Share new ideas and best practices across Java or other object-oriented services, APIs, and SFMC capabilities
Encourage continuous learning and skill development for junior engineers within the team
Stay current on modern development practices across Java, APIs, and integration patterns
Collaborating within the Team Participate in team’s collaboration sessions to provide technical expertise to solve a problem/remove technical roadblocks for the team Participate in product planning and implementation. Helps team to understand and decompose work Defining Engineering Standards and Patterns Contribute to develop engineering practices, templates and frameworks in collaboration with the team.
Dev Ops Continuously assessing technology to build more stable, scalable, and resilient software
Use data to measure progress
Promote and expand on the use of the CI/CD pipeline to improve the deployment and build process.
Participates in the team support rotation and provides expert knowledge on focus subsystems.
Selecting & Managing Technology Vendors Contribute to define the selection criteria for selecting the right technology vendors
Participate in proof of concept / technology along with the vendor
Coaching Engineers Provide guidance to junior engineers to help them learn foundational engineering skills
Provide technical expertise and help the team to solve technical/software issues
Provide trainings to the junior developers and groom them Provide domain expertise on software products in their area to junior engineers to help them learn/grow their skills and contribute as part of the team Recruiting/Building Talent Engage in the tech community to build the Thrivent technology brand and position as the employer of choice in the market
Participate in the interview process or be part of the panel to recruit the right talent to the team Contribute to the recruitment to define the structure of the interview process to hire the right talent to the team.
