Discover your future at Citi
Working at Citi is far more than just a job. A career with us means joining a team of more than 230,000 dedicated people from around the globe. At Citi, you’ll have the opportunity to grow your career, give back to your community and make a real impact.
Job OverviewAre you an engineer who loves solving complex problems?
Do you enjoy designing and building scalable, high-performance systems that process vast amounts of data? Are you looking to apply your Python skills to a new and exciting set of challenges?
Our Markets Quantitative Analysis team at Citi is looking for talented developers just like you. We build the critical infrastructure and platforms that power global financial markets. Forget the stereotypes—this is a technology role, focused on tackling complex problems.
We believe great engineers can come from anywhere. If you've been building data pipelines, working on engineering simulations in the automotive industry, or developing complex backend systems, your skills are exactly what we're looking for.
What You'll Do
This isn't about staring at market tickers. It's about building the engine. You will:
- Build and Own Critical Systems:
Design, develop, and optimize the large-scale distributed platforms that form the backbone of our global analytics. - Engineer for Performance:
Tackle fascinating challenges in high-performance computing, distributed data processing (using tools like Elastic Search, Mongo
DB, and more), and algorithmic efficiency. - Develop Core Infrastructure:
Create and maintain the core infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and tooling for our in-house analytical libraries, directly impacting the productivity of hundreds of developers. - Create Powerful Tools:
Build intuitive web-based interfaces and backends (we use React) that allow our researchers and traders to harness the power of our complex systems. - Solve Real-World Puzzles:
Apply your quantitative and analytical skills to implement and validate sophisticated mathematical models. We'll teach you the finance part.
What You'll Bring (The Essentials)
We're looking for your engineering talent, not your financial knowledge.
- Solid Python
Experience:
You have a proven track record of building data-intensive applications, complex tooling, or backend systems with Python. - An Engineer's Mindset:
You have a strong foundation in software engineering principles and a passion for solving complex analytical problems with data-driven solutions. - A Commitment to Quality:
You have experience with automated testing. We use pytest, but your experience with any modern testing framework is valuable. - Quantitative Aptitude:
You likely have a degree in a technical field like Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or Economics, and you're comfortable arguing for solutions on quantitative grounds.
Bonus Points (Nice-to-Haves)
- Experience with front-end development, especially with React
. - Familiarity with distributed systems and technologies (e.g., message queues, microservices, Async
IO). - Hands-on experience with Linux and shell scripting.
- A passion for data analysis and turning raw data into actionable insights.
What we can offer you
By joining Citi Hungary, you will not only be part of a business casual workplace with a hybrid working model (up to 2 days working at home per week), but also receive a competitive compensation package and enjoy a whole host of additional benefits that support you (and your family) to be well, live well and save well:
- Cafeteria Program
- Home Office Allowance (for colleagues working in hybrid work models)
- Paid Parental Leave Program (maternity and paternity leave)
- Private Medical Care Program and onsite medical rooms at our offices
- Pension Plan Contribution to voluntary pension fund
- Group Life Insurance
- Employee Assistance Program
- Access to a wide variety of learning and development programs, online course libraries and upskilling platforms, such as Udemy and Degreed
- Flexible work arrangements to support you in managing work - life balance
- Career progression opportunities across…
