Sr Software Test Engineer

Tandem Diabetes Care is hiring a Senior Software Test Engineer I to lead test projects and ensure quality of insulin delivery systems.

• Define and lead test projects, including schedules, test plans, tools and test automation frameworks.
• Work with CI systems and modular testing across subsystems.
• Own and coordinate the team’s technical deliverables, reviewing detailed configuration and test descriptions.
• Oversee documentation of test operations and report results to software engineering.
• Identify and analyze impacts of bug fixes across the software platform.
• Develop and assist with implementation of software validation test plans.
• Prepare and review software test plan reports, including pass/fail product evaluations.
• Lead cross‑functional reviews of test plans.
• Perform and document software test audits in compliance with test plan procedures.
• Assist product development engineers in diagnosing and replicating product failures.
• Work independently to confirm bug fixes and navigate the product development process to market.
• Identify actual or potential problems in test plans and estimate test efforts for new project deliverables.
• Plan and implement test strategies for system upgrades.
• Serve as a contributing member of cross‑functional teams, working closely with R&D engineering, Technical Support and Quality Engineers to match test processes with documented specifications.
• Report progress and issues to the department manager and appropriate groups.

• Working knowledge of at least one embedded or cloud‑based programming language (preferably JavaScript, C, or C#).
• Ability to read and follow procedures and flow diagrams.
• Ability to effectively share information and ideas within and outside the department in written or verbal form.
• Proficiency in supporting effective interactions among cross‑functional teams.
• Demonstrated ability to schedule and coordinate project priorities and resources.
• Ability to work with and understand automated insulin delivery algorithms.
• Experience with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Capability to define and develop test tools to verify features and increase automated test coverage.
• Knowledge of CI systems and commitment to improve build quality.
• Familiarity with IEC
  62304 standard.
• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5‑7+ years of experience in software testing or quality assurance.
• Experience as a lead tester fully involved in specification and clarification of software requirements, test engineering with system expertise, and participation in creation, design change assessments and software review board.
• Proofreading, following detailed work instructions, and critical‑thinking project skills.
• Expert in at least one test automation framework and associated scripting language.

Hybrid: a mix of in‑office work at Tandem’s corporate headquarters in Del Mar, CA, and remote work; expected to be in the office 2–3 days per week but may vary.

• Base salary range: $119,300 to $145,000 annually.
