Remote Sr Java Developer; Springboot, RestAPI, Microservices

Job Description

A healthcare insurance provider is seeking a Senior Java Developer to support and enhance a strategic Grievance and Appeals platform as part of a large-scale application modernization and upgrade initiative within a regulated healthcare environment. This role is heavily backend-focused, responsible for designing, developing, and supporting scalable, secure, and highly available microservices using Java (17+ preferred), Spring Boot, and RESTful APIs in a cloud-native architecture.

The developer will own backend service reliability, performance, security, and production readiness, applying distributed systems principles, enterprise security standards (OAuth2, JWT, RBAC), and strong data persistence practices across SQL and No

SQL platforms. The position involves close collaboration with product, QA, Dev Ops, and architecture teams on design reviews, CI/CD pipelines, containerized deployments (Docker/Kubernetes), and production support, including troubleshooting and incident resolution. While primarily backend-focused, basic familiarity with Next.js is valued to partner effectively with frontend teams and define clear API contracts, and experience using AI-assisted development tools is expected to improve code quality, maintainability, and delivery speed in a complex, compliance-driven domain.
