Data Integration Software Developer
The Leidos Digital Modernization Group seeks a Data Integration Software Developer for the Global Solution Management – Operations II contract, under the Global Automations & Intelligent Network Solutions (GAINS) Team. This position requires integration of various data sources into Confluent (Kafka) and Elastic platforms, development of robust integration solutions, and contribution to data governance practices.
Must be within driving distance of Fort Meade, Scott AFB, or Hill AFB. A Secret clearance is required upon start of employment, and a Security+ certification must be obtained within 14 days.
As a key scrum team member, you will work with an Agile development and implementation team to develop an integration solution and support operational end-users.
Primary Responsibilities- Develop and implement integration solutions for the GAINS project using Kafka, Elastic, and Databricks.
- Integrate data sources into Confluent (Kafka), Elastic, and Databricks platforms and develop Kafka system integrations between Elasticsearch/Logstash and other systems.
- Develop Kafka system integrations, custom connectors, and work with ksql
DB and Kafka Streams for data processing. - Deploy and manage Kafka clusters on Kubernetes in multi‑site environments (both on‑premise and cloud).
- Automate the full software lifecycle from design and development to testing and deployment, including production environments.
- Design and build application deployment pipelines, including containerized environments using Kubernetes and Docker, and automated testing pipelines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline with 4 years of relevant experience; or master’s with 2 years of relevant experience.
- 4+ years combined experience in Kafka, Java, RESTful services, AWS, and full‑stack development.
- Programming experience with Python, Java, SQL, and working knowledge of HTML and JavaScript.
- Experience with BI tools such as Kibana and technologies like Elasticsearch, Logstash, NiFi, and Databricks.
- Advanced understanding of event streaming and Kafka integration.
- Experience in application integration design and strong communication skills.
- Experience designing software detailed designs, particularly in ksql or kstreams.
- Proficiency in the software development lifecycle and maintaining production‑quality code.
- Experience with distributed version control such as Git and Bitbucket.
- Knowledge of software engineering principles.
- Experience developing software on a UNIX command line platform.
- Ability to develop DoD requirements, traceability, and detailed plans; write software documentation.
- Active Secret, Interim Secret or higher DOD security clearance.
- Ability to obtain Security+ certification or equivalent DoD 8570 IAT II within 30 days of the start date.
- Experience with text mining tools and the ELK stack for summarization, search, and entity extraction.
- Familiarity with CI/CD techniques, containerized pipelines, and Dev Ops practices.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes deployment, Agile methodologies, and tools.
- Experience with AWS Gov Cloud and cloud infrastructure, including networking and security policies.
- Cross‑team collaboration within a matrixed organization.
- Knowledge of system architecture, networks, and centralized logging (ELK) to support data transformation initiatives.
- Experience developing and deploying software in DoD environments (DISA experience is a plus) and meeting security standards such as STIGs.
- Experience with Agile methodologies, Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence).
- Certified Confluent Developer and Certified Elastic Engineer.
- Remote teamwork experience with geographically dispersed teams.
- Strong understanding of Agile frameworks, including Scrum and SAFe.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Remote work may be possible; reporting to the work site is preferred de, with potential at Scott AFB.
