Provide technical expertise in the development and operation of new and existing custom software applications for the Department of Agriculture (MDA). Work with the MNIT development team to support, administer, and enhance the Salesforce Customer Relationship Management system and associated modernization initiatives. Research emerging technologies, develop implementation plans, and provide guidance in application design and solutioning. Support enterprise and legacy applications as needed.
Responsibilities- Develop and support applications on the Salesforce platform and related technologies (Apex, Lightning, SOQL, Azure, etc.)
- Design, develop, test, and implement complex software applications following SDLC practices.
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions for large‑scale or complex systems.
- Apply Agile product team methodologies and participate in sprint development cadences.
- Integrate Salesforce with cloud‑based platforms and middleware tools (APIs, Azure services, etc.).
- Provide troubleshooting, maintenance, and enhancement support for Salesforce CRM and related systems.
- Conduct research on emerging technologies and create plans for their implementation within the department.
- Serve as a backup to other staff during absences for enterprise and legacy application support.
- Work onsite at 625 Robert St, St. Paul, MN at least 50% of the time; remote work possible on a limited basis.
- At least four (4) years of IT‑related experience in Salesforce Development.
- Experience developing and supporting applications using the Salesforce platform and related technologies.
- Proficiency in Apex, Lightning, SOQL, and integration technologies such as APIs and Azure services.
- Knowledge of SDLC practices and Agile product team methodologies.
- Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Customer‑focused approach with active listening, empathy, and solution‑oriented problem‑solving.
- Advanced experience with Apex, Visualforce, Lightning components, and Flow.
- Experience integrating Salesforce with external systems using REST/SOAP APIs, Azure Data Factory, or middleware tools.
- Experience with data migration, data cleansing, and data integration processes.
- Experience with development and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure Dev Ops, or Git.
- Experience with reporting and analytics tools such as Power BI or SSRS.
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership, establish development standards, and mentor team members.
- Pass all legally required checks prior to employment, including SEMA4 Records Check (for current and past state employees only), Criminal History Check, Reference Check, Social Security and Address Verification, Education Verification, and other legally required checks.
