Play an important role in educating the next generation of computer scientists! The Computer Science Department at the CWU is accepting applications to fill current and future full-time, part-time, quarterly and annual appointment lecturer positions at our Ellensburg, and Des Moines campuses, as well as online. The list below is not all inclusive but represents most of our needs over the next two years.

- CS 110 & 111 - Programming Fundamentals I & II (Introductory programming and problem solving in Java)
- CS 112 - Introduction to Data Science in Python
- CS 301 & 302 - Data Structures I & II
- CS 311 & 312 - Computer Organization I & II
- CS 325 - Technical Writing for Computer Science
- CS 361 & 362 - Principles of Language Design I & II
- CS 380 - Introduction to Software engineering
- CS 420 - Database Management Systems
- CS 427 - Algorithm Analysis
- CS 450 - Computer Network and Data Communications
- CS 470 - Operating Systems
- CS 480 & 481
- Advanced Software Engineering/Capstone Project
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or allied field.
- Experience or demonstrated interest in teaching computer science.
Each course has specific requirements:
- CS 110 and 111 - Experience with Java
- CS 112 - Familiarity with Python and data science
- CS 301 & 302 - Familiarity with data structures including the Java collection framework
- CS 311 & 312 - Familiarity with modern computer architecture
- CS 325 - Experience in the preparation of technical documents particularly related to the software engineering process
- CS 361 & 362 - Understanding of the general structure and characteristics of computer languages
- CS 380 - Principles and practices of software engineering, including requirements, object-oriented analysis and design, design patterns, implementation and testing
- CS 420 - Experience in database use, development, and management
- CS 427 - Experience formulating and applying computer algorithms
- CS 450 - Familiarity with network protocols, configurations encryption, compression, and security
- CS 470 - Understand process and memory management
- CS 480 & 481
- Experience with software project management and with mentoring project teams
Pay & Work Schedule
Pay: Based on the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement .
The minimum remuneration for the non-tenure-track titles for the academic year will be as follows:
(a) Lecturer: $1,224 per workload unit for faculty with terminal degrees; $979 per workload unit for faculty without terminal degrees.
(b) Senior Lecturer: $1,346 per workload unit for faculty with terminal degrees; $1,075 per workload unit for faculty without terminal degrees.
Effective September 1, 2026,
The minimum remuneration for the non-tenure-track titles for the academic year will be as follows
(a) Lecturer: $1,248 per workload unit for faculty with terminal degrees; $999 per workload unit for faculty without terminal degrees.
(b) Senior Lecturer: $1,373 per workload unit for faculty with terminal degrees; $1,097 per workload unit for faculty without terminal degrees.

Additional Information :
This announcement will be used to develop a pool of applicants for positions in the department of Computer Science through March 2027. There is a possibility that selected applicants may be called on short notice to fill lecturer vacancies on a quarter-by-quarter basis.
Screening of applications begins immediately and will continue as needed. The number of lecturer positions filled varies from quarter to quarter, depending upon the needs of the department.
