About the role
Capitol Services is seeking an AI Engineer to join our Austin, TX location. The role is permanent, full‑time, and follows a hybrid schedule Monday through Friday. You will design, develop, test, tune, enhance, maintain, and document AI‑powered software solutions that comply with project plans and industry standards.
What you will do- Design, develop, and implement AI systems using Python code
- Build RAG pipelines, Agentic AI workflows, and LLM integrations
- Write clean, modular, scalable code and design systems that are production ready
- Own the end‑to‑end architecture of AI solutions
- Develop and maintain prompt orchestration layers, memory systems, and multi‑step reasoning workflows
- Build or customize orchestration frameworks
- Build APIs and services using FastAPI or similar frameworks
- Drive adoption of AI solutions across teams and identify opportunities where AI delivers business value
- Lead AI end‑to‑end projects, including distributing work, code review, and providing technical mentorship to Software Engineer team members
- Stay up to date with emerging AI technologies
- Ensure compliance with project plans and industry standards
- Communicate with coworkers and others in a timely, effective, and professional manner
- Eligibility:
You must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship and reside in Austin, TX. C2C will not be considered. - Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience. 5+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years building end‑to‑end AI products. - Technical skills:
Python, LLMs (e.g., Claude, GPT), Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG), MCP, Agentic AI systems, Generative AI, and AI Agent orchestration. - Preferred:
Experience as a Full‑Stack Engineer building scalable backend applications using C# and .NET, developing APIs, designing data access layers, and working with relational databases such as SQL Server. - Organizational:
Ability to multi‑task and prioritize projects, with excellent attention to detail and a sense of urgency. - Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, friendly and professional with coworkers and stakeholders. - Adaptability:
Eager to use new tools and learn processes, able to adapt to changing priorities in a fast‑paced environment, with strong problem‑solving skills. - Coachable:
Retains and implements instruction and training, open to learning new processes and systems, and comfortable asking questions. - Attitude:
Positive customer‑service attitude, courteous and polite when navigating difficult conversations, problems, or complaints. - Team player:
Able to work in both team and independent settings, supports peers, and completes tasks within time constraints. - Reliability:
Works regular business hours in Austin, punctual, follows an assigned work schedule, and maintains client confidentiality. - Office environment:
Able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time, works a hybrid schedule; not eligible for 100% remote work.
- $92,000 to $155,000 annual salary
- Discretionary bonus awarded annually, typically 4 weeks of pay
