About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Power On Developer to design, develop, and support custom solutions within the Jack Henry Symitar Episys core banking platform. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Power On scripting, core banking operations, and integrations with Symitar APIs and third-party systems. This role will work closely with business stakeholders, operations teams, and IT leadership to deliver scalable and efficient solutions that improve member and employee experiences.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, test, and maintain Power On programs and scripts within the Symitar Episys environment.
- Build custom workflows, reports, automation, and member-facing solutions.
- Develop and support integrations using Sym Xchange, Sym Connect, REST APIs, and third-party applications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to Power On applications and batch processes.
- Gather business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Optimize existing Power On code for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Support core processing, month-end/year-end activities, audits, and regulatory requirements.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and development standards.
- Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers when applicable.
- 4+ years of hands‑on Symitar Episys Power On development experience.
- Strong knowledge of credit union or banking operations.
- Experience with Power On scripting, batch processing, and automation.
- Familiarity with Symitar data structures, accounts, loans, deposits, and general ledger modules.
- Experience with SQL for reporting and data analysis.
- Knowledge of REST APIs, SOAP/XML, and web service integrations.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with Sym Xchange and Sym Connect integrations.
- Experience with Power Forms, JavaScript, Python, or related scripting languages.
- Symitar Episys certifications.
- Experience working in Agile environments.
- Prior experience supporting credit unions or financial institutions.
