IMERA) program in the Leidos Defense Sector has opportunities for talented Senior Software Engineers with 4+ years of hands‑on experience to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a team of software developers and engineers to produce and field software for the US Air Force. This role offers professional growth and a fast‑paced, customer‑facing environment.
Remote work is allowed; however, candidates who can occasionally work onsite at Morgantown, WV will be given preference.
Primary Responsibilities- Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug mission‑critical software source code using modern languages and tools such as Java.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle within broadly defined parameters.
- Use Agile development tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket/Git to manage work and collaborate with teams.
- Support creation and updating of all relevant documentation and specifications for design, development, and testing.
- Identify potential roadblocks and develop workarounds.
- Plan and estimate development tasks to improve performance metrics.
- Develop maintainable code that matches specifications.
- Develop automated tests leveraging continuous integration.
- Own delivery of small parts of a system or application.
- Work closely with other engineers to develop the best technical design and approach for new product development.
- Build software solutions where the solution is not always well defined but always considers the customer first.
- Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of experience or a Master’s degree with 2+ years of experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- US citizen with an active Secret clearance or higher and the ability to maintain that clearance during employment.
- Hands‑on experience with Java/C++ and object‑oriented programming (applicants will be tested).
- Hands‑on experience with JavaScript and frameworks such as React.
- Ability to apply software development process fundamentals.
- Strong, self‑motivated desire to learn new programming languages, tools, frameworks, and techniques.
- Ability to complete tasks independently with minimal direct supervision.
- Ability to work and collaborate effectively within a multi‑disciplined engineering team.
- Familiarity with basic web technologies including HTML, CSS, XML, REST, JSON, SOAP, and WSDL.
- Familiarity with web application technologies such as Apache Tomcat, JBoss, etc.
- Knowledge of a version control system such as Git.
- Knowledge of Agile Development methodologies.
- Familiarity with multiple operating systems (Mac OSX, Windows, Linux, etc.).
- Familiarity with a relational database management system (Oracle, MySQL, Postgre
SQL, SQL Server, etc.). - Proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with No
SQL databases such as Mongo
DB, etc. - Familiarity with server‑side JavaScript.
Pay Range: $87,100 - $157,450.
