About the Role

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Ninja One team, you will contribute to our IT Operations product suite by designing and implementing scalable new solutions and product improvements. Your clean and optimized coding will help us develop high‑quality software applications that exceed our customers' expectations.

We are engineers, technology leaders, and experts who create and deliver mission‑critical services to enable Ninja One’s customers to administer, protect, and maintain millions of endpoints and servers. You will have the opportunity to design and develop high‑availability software systems that support our worldwide operations.

We are flexible on remote working from home, provided you are located in the USA and reside in one of the following states: CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IL, KS, MA, ME, NC, NJ, NY, OR, TN, TX, VA, or WA. We have physical offices in Austin, TX, and Tampa, FL for those who prefer a hybrid option.

Ninja One is built on Java, Kotlin, C++, and Postgres, supporting millions of user endpoints and running as a scalable cloud service in AWS. Knowledge of large‑scale datastore bottlenecks, asynchronous application design, client‑server architecture, and scaling data structures will help you stand out.

Committing Code and Shipping Products – You will be one of our most trusted engineers, responsible for implementing design patterns and working on enterprise‑level software challenges in a startup environment. Your impact will be more hands‑on than at other companies, building software that runs on millions of endpoints.

Other duties as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years of Java software development for product applications. Solid expertise in Kotlin will set you apart.
• 4+ years of experience working with highly scalable software systems.
• Experience working on systems at scale and finding solutions to scale those systems.
• Working knowledge of a breadth of OOP design principles.
• Expertise in scaling data structures and object‑oriented design.
• Knowledge of API best practices and REST service development using frameworks like Jersey or Spring.
• Relational database design and development experience.
• Experience creating both client and server‑side development for responsive messaging.
• Caching system expertise and experience with Redis will make you a stand‑out.
• Expert knowledge of quality testing practices.

• Due to operational policies, Ninja One is unable to hire for this role within the city limits of Chicago. We will consider all qualified candidates who reside outside of the city proper or are willing to self‑relocate.

Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job‑related factors, including but not limited to location, market demands, experience, job‑related knowledge, and skills. For roles based in California, Colorado, New Jersey, or Washington, the base salary hiring range is $140,000 to $200,000 per year. For roles based in New York, the base salary hiring range is $140,000 to $200,000 per year.
