Big Commerce Developer

Our Front‑End Engineers help build and maintain interactive ecommerce stores for our clients on the Big Commerce platform. They work with Project Managers and other engineers to deliver quality websites, solving challenging client challenges on a daily basis. We’re looking for individuals who thrive in dynamic environments, embrace processes and organization, are detail‑oriented, and enjoy using data to inform their decision‑making.

• Properly submit pull requests with code that fulfills a ticket’s acceptance criteria.
• Communicate blockers, progress, and statuses regarding tickets.
• Apply best practices regarding accessibility, site performance, and SEO.
• Use HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create Big Commerce web elements that match client‑approved designs and functionality.
• Create test cases for completed work to hand off to QA.

• Broad knowledge of standards‑compliant HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, including responsive design techniques and performance implications of CSS/animations and JavaScript.
• Experience with stencil template development on at least three prior projects and ability to submit a small portfolio of recent work or code sample.
• Knowledgeable of modern CSS concepts such as Grid and Flexbox; experience with Vue.js or React.js is a plus.
• Understanding of web standards and accessibility.
• Experience integrating external web services, such as SOAP, REST, or GraphQL APIs.
• Comfortable using software development management tools like the Atlassian suite (JIRA, Confluence, etc.) or similar.
• Familiarity with Git for branching, pushing changes, and creating pull requests for code review.
• Proven track record of meeting deadlines and managing new tasks.
