Embedded AI Engineer – E2 Level
At Homebase, you’ll join a bold, fast‑moving team that helps small businesses thrive.
We’re building unstoppable teams and need an Embedded AI Engineer to run embedded engagements, deliver durable AI‑powered systems that materially improve operational efficiency and business outcomes.
You’ll operate close to the business: translate messy workflows into scoped solutions, build production systems at velocity using modern LLMs and coding agents, and iterate rapidly based on real usage.
Key Responsibilities- Lead embedded cycles end‑to‑end: discovery (workflow mapping + KPI definition), build/launch, and scale/standardize.
- Ship full‑stack internal systems (services, integrations, and UIs) that teams rely on daily, balancing speed with maintainability.
- Own and evolve shared internal AI software that multiple teams depend on, treating key accelerators as compounding assets.
- Establish clear ownership paths for each deliverable: team‑owned, co‑owned by a specific team, or handoff when there’s a natural long‑term home.
- Drive measurable impact: define success metrics up front and iterate until adoption and KPI movement are real.
- Create reusable templates, components, and playbooks so the next engagement ships faster and better.
- Partner effectively across Engineering and stakeholders: communicate trade‑offs, scope, rollout plans, and change management clearly.
- 2+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping production systems (or equivalent).
- Strong proficiency in a backend scripting language such as Ruby or Python, and comfort working across backend and frontend (Type Script/JavaScript/React).
- Proven ability to deliver in ambiguity – work with subject matter experts to transform messy workflows into a scoped MVP and ship it quickly.
- Hands‑on experience building with LLMs and automating workflows; strong instincts for pragmatic solution design.
- Strong communication skills and stakeholder leadership: run working sessions, demo clearly, drive adoption, and empathize with internal customers.
- AI fluency (required): retool workflows with AI, instrument outcomes, and measure impact (time saved, error reduction, adoption, throughput).
- Bonus: experience building internal tools and integrating with systems such as CRM, ticketing, knowledge bases, and analytics; experience operationalizing AI workflows.
