Blockchain / Web3, Software Engineer, Full Stack Developer, Backend Developer
Interchain Inc (formerly, Skip) leads development for the Cosmos Hub, ecosystem, and stack -- the leading platform for building sovereign, interoperable blockchains. We're dedicated to offering developers full-stack programmability, complete ownership of their economics, and best-in-class distribution to users everywhere.
Our mission is to build a more free, more fair internet with the Cosmos platform at the core. The best teams already build with Cosmos across every category: defi (dYdX, Osmosis, Injective), infrastructure (Babylon, Celestia, Initia),Depin/AI (Akash, Artificial Superintelligence Alliance, Allora), privacy (Nillion, Penumbra), and many more. We want to help these teams and many more help bring the values of sovereignty and decentralization to the rest of the internet by developing the Cosmos stack and hub.
We focus on hiring the core team and senior talent to work together in person in NYC to build a collaborative and supportive culture. But we’re still open to hiring best-in-class remote talent anywhere within 6 hours of the NYC timezone.
Core team member responsibilitiesDescription:We are looking for a Software Engineer to develop and optimize CometBFT, the consensus engine behind the Cosmos ecosystem.
The ideal candidate believes decentralization and trust minimization are critical to ensuring a bright and open future for the internet. They care deeply about writing clear and maintainable code, not just solving tasks quickly. They believe that thoughtful software design and thorough testing processes speed up, rather than slow down development. Someone who doesn’t enjoy building in public and interacting with their users won’t excel in this role.
Role
- Build and maintain core components of CometBFT so that it can provide reliable, performant BFT consensus for billions of dollars of assets
- Serve as the expert on and primary owner of a critical sub-system in CometBFT (e.g. p2p gossip, block propagation, etc…)
- Troubleshoot and resolve distributed systems issues with customers and team members.
- Contribute to testing, monitoring, and observability systems to ensure our software works in production across 100+ diverse blockchains
Qualifications
- Requirements:
- 2+ years of software engineering experience.
- Proficiency in Go or similar languages.
- Bonus:
- Expertise in consensus algorithms and similar areas of distributed systems research
- Experience developing or contributing to blockchains
- Familiarity with open-source development practices.
