Senior Software Engineer – Risk Engineering
As a Senior Software Engineer in the Risk Engineering domain, you will work with engineers to enhance and expand instrumentation and fraud detection capabilities across Gemini products, controls, mitigations, automation, and operational tooling to support risk. You will contribute to the technical direction and engineering culture within your product team, mentor junior engineers, drive operational excellence, and design, develop, deploy, and support user‑facing distributed systems that serve millions of users with a focus on safety, security, and user experience.

In person twice a week at our San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY office.
- Participate in the design, development, and deployment of new features for your team
- Contribute to the high availability, reliability, and security of our systems
- Participate in code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and share best practices
- Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in the crypto and blockchain space
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 6+ years of experience in software development with typed languages such as Scala, Go, Java, C# or C++
- Proven track record of developing and maintaining large‑scale, distributed systems
- Experience with agile development methodologies and a commitment to following best practices in code health, testing, and maintainability
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work under pressure
- Familiarity with cloud technologies and microservices architecture
- Experience in the crypto or fintech industry
- Understanding of blockchain technologies and crypto wallets
- Leadership experience or a strong interest in mentoring junior team members

The base salary range for this role is $140,000 - $200,000 in New York, California, and Washington. This range does not include discretionary bonuses or equity. Compensation is determined by skillset, experience, job scope, and market data.
In the United States, we offer a hybrid work approach at our hub offices, balancing the benefits of in‑person collaboration with the flexibility of remote work. Employees who do not live near one of our hubs are part of our remote workforce.
