Position Overview
Lockheed Martin Space seeks a Hardware/Software Integration and Test Engineer for the NASA Orion Vehicle Program. The role supports the Orion Software Integrated Product Team (IPT) by conducting complex mission and function testing to ensure crew safety and mission success.
Responsibilities- Conduct complex mission and function testing of advanced spacecraft hardware and software.
- Operate multiple Orion Test Labs, run scripts in simulated environments, and progress to higher fidelity labs with hardware in the loop.
- Drive out issues across multiple hardware, software, test and development teams, providing ground‑level issue investigation and resolution.
- Leverage development tools and environments to push software to operational bounds.
- Maintain turnaround on formal software builds, ensuring flight‑ready delivery.
- Work effectively in a rapid‑paced, collaborative team environment with strong oral and written communication.
- Perform shift work as required (evenings or weekends), with general flexibility within a 40‑hour week; full‑time on‑site work is required but limited remote work may be coordinated with management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or closely related field with at least 2 years of software engineering/development experience (Master’s degree preferred).
- Experience testing integrated hardware and software in a lab or simulated environment.
- Test case, procedure development and execution experience.
- Experience with software integration and debugging techniques.
- Linux/Unix system familiarity.
- Experience with software configuration management tools (Perforce, Git, or equivalent).
- Experience with Python or a similar scripting language.
- Demonstrated interest and ability to learn new tools and technologies and apply them to projects on time.
- Clear communication skills (verbal and written).
- Strong teamwork and independent work capabilities.
- Experience with Green Hills Integrity or embedded programming (plus).
- VxWorks programming experience (plus).
- Experience with L2 and L3 network protocols, development, configuration, and HW/SW integration (plus).
- Familiarity with object‑oriented software design (plus).
- Proficiency with C/C++ (plus).
- Interest in spacecraft avionics design and development, including C&DH, GN&C, COMM, instrumentation, propulsion, electrical power systems, automated mission sequencing, and fault management (plus).
- General Orion experience or knowledge (plus).
