Position: Sr. Software Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Job Overview

Digital Envoy (DE) is a leader in geolocation and VPN data for over 25 years, serving customers across Streaming Media, Ad Tech, Cybersecurity, E‑commerce, and Data Analytics. Our core product, IP address geolocation, powers companies such as Netflix, Hulu, Trade Desk, Pay Pal, AWS, Apple, and many others. The combination of VPN and Proxy data with accurate IP geolocation enables threat intelligence, authentication, and digital privacy solutions.

We are seeking a Sr. Software Engineer (Cybersecurity) to advance our VPN Proxy product and cybersecurity research initiatives. The role blends software engineering with reverse engineering, ethical hacking, malware analysis, and threat research. The ideal candidate will be a strong developer who also enjoys deep software analysis.

Location:

Remote work is available from the following states: CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, KY, MA, MI, NY, NJ, NC, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA, WA. Georgia residents may choose to work from our Peachtree Corners office a few days per week. Digital Envoy is not sponsoring visas for this position.

Responsibilities
  • Develop object‑oriented applications, services, and tooling for reverse engineering, threat intelligence, and security investigations.
  • Implement and maintain production‑quality software using modern engineering practices.
  • Build custom analysis tools, automation frameworks, and research platforms for malware analysis, reverse engineering, and threat detection.
  • Analyze binaries and obfuscated software using static and dynamic techniques.
  • Collaborate with researchers and engineers to translate cybersecurity research into scalable software solutions.
  • Participate in architecture, code reviews, testing, and standards to maintain a secure and maintainable codebase.
  • Identify emerging threat trends and research new intelligence resources to counter them.
  • Utilize and enhance existing REST APIs and implement new APIs following best practices for scalability.
  • Provide subject‑matter expertise to support operational needs.
  • Leverage AI‑assisted research, development, and automation tools to accelerate malware analysis, threat detection, reverse engineering, and secure coding.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of professional software development with strong object‑oriented programming skills.
  • Expertise in Python and at least one additional language such as C++, Java, C#, Go, or Rust.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, and object‑oriented principles.
  • Excellent debugging and troubleshooting across multiple languages.
  • Advanced proficiency of Linux and security engineering fundamentals.
  • Experience with No

    SQL databases.
  • Experience performing static and dynamic analysis of software, binaries, mobile applications, and malware, including Smali and APK.
Preferred
  • Familiarity with reverse engineering tools such as IDA Pro, Ghidra, Hopper, Radare2, Binary Ninja, Frida, Burp Suite.
  • Experience with AWS and SQL.
  • Experience applying AI/ML‑assisted tools and automation to cybersecurity research and malware analysis.
  • Experience with security‑related data analysis.
  • Strong proficiency with static and dynamic analysis of malicious binaries.
