Software Developer (w/m/d) for Java-Based Development Platform

As a Software Developer (w/m/d) for our Java-based development platform, you will lay the technical foundation in the IT cross-departmental "Development and Integration Services" for the modernization of our application development. Together with the other team members of the "Application and Integration Development" team, you will develop the basics for Java backend and integration development based on market-standard technologies and technologies such as Microprofile, Jakarta EE, Quarkus, and Apache Kafka.

To this end, you will develop prototypes and showcases for our developer community so that the wheel does not have to be reinvented for every project. Building on the standards, you will supplement our development platform with own framework components as required. To contribute your acquired knowledge of these technologies and frameworks and to experience requirements and feedback firsthand, you will also work operationally in modern Debeka IT projects.

Your contribution to the WE

• Responsibility for cross-cutting framework components and Java-based technologies for application development and integration
• Conception, development, maintenance, and support of our development platform for Java backend development based on modern technology standards and architectural solutions
• Excerpt of current technologies:
  Java, Quarkus, Openshift, JPA, Eclipse Microprofile, Apache Kafka
• Close collaboration in the team with pair programming and code reviews
• Operational participation in and with IT projects to support developers in the use of our platform

What we wish for

• Completed study with IT-related focus or training in the IT sector with several years of professional experience
• At least 3 years of professional experience in backend application development in an enterprise environment and in-depth knowledge of Java and other technologies mentioned above
• Practical knowledge of using architectural patterns such as the Transactional Outbox Pattern, Hexagonal Architecture, etc.
• Enthusiasm and willingness to learn new technologies and methodologies
• High sense of quality, customer orientation, team capability, commitment, and personal responsibility
• Very good German language skills in speech and writing
