This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Data Platform Engineer based in the United States.
This role sits at the core of a cutting‑edge AI‑driven industrial automation platform, where data is transformed into real‑time intelligence that powers autonomous decision‑making systems. You will design and scale the foundational infrastructure that ingests, processes, and serves massive volumes of streaming and batch data. Working in a highly collaborative, research‑driven engineering environment, you will help build multi‑tenant, production‑grade distributed systems that enable reinforcement learning models to operate in real‑world industrial settings.
Your work will directly influence the performance and efficiency of complex physical systems such as factories, buildings, and energy infrastructure. This is a high‑impact role for engineers who enjoy solving deep systems challenges at scale while shaping the future of AI‑powered operations.
- Design and build scalable, high‑throughput data ingestion, streaming, and batch processing systems supporting real‑time and historical analytics
- Architect and develop distributed data platforms, including storage, feature stores, and event‑driven processing systems for multi‑tenant environments
- Build and optimize APIs and backend services that serve critical data and platform capabilities across the organization
- Design and maintain robust data models, storage systems, and retrieval mechanisms optimized for performance, security, and scalability
- Own production systems end‑to‑end, including deployments, monitoring, incident response, and on‑call operations to ensure high availability
- Lead cross‑functional technical initiatives in collaboration with engineers, product managers, and technical program managers
- Mentor engineers and contribute to elevating system design, operational excellence, and engineering standards across the team
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, with strong exposure to distributed systems or large‑scale data platforms
- Proven expertise designing and operating data‑intensive systems for ingestion, processing, storage, and serving at scale
- Strong experience building and maintaining multi‑tenant, highly available, and fault‑tolerant production systems
- Hands‑on experience with streaming and batch data processing technologies (e.g., Apache Flink or similar frameworks)
- Solid background in API design, event‑driven architectures, and backend service development
- Experience operating production systems, including observability, incident management, and performance optimization
- Familiarity with modern cloud environments such as Google Cloud Platform and tools like Kubernetes and Docker
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in fully remote, distributed teams
- Demonstrated ownership mindset, with curiosity, customer empathy, and a focus on operational excellence
- Preferred: experience with data lakes, lake houses, or self‑serve data platforms at scale
- Competitive base salary ranging from approximately $123,760 to $200,200
, depending on location tier - Equity participation as part of total compensation package
- Fully remote work environment with global distributed teams
