Role OverviewSenior Java Software Engineer – Satellite Ground Systems – onsite position in State College, PA. Design, develop, and test Java code in a Linux, Agile, Dev Ops environment to support cutting‑edge satellite systems that enable communication, surveillance, and defense capabilities.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, and maintain advanced software applications for satellite ground systems in collaboration with systems engineers, hardware designers, and other software engineers.
- Implement and test Java‑based applications and components, ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define software requirements and specifications.
- Maintain and modify existing code as necessary.
- Participate in software design reviews, code reviews, and system integration activities.
- Contribute to program and project milestones under supervisory guidance.
- Follow established software processes and procedures, including development documentation, maintenance, and operations concepts.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in Java and satellite technology to drive innovation.
- U.S. citizenship required; must obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance.
- Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and at least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in object‑oriented software design and development using Java in a Linux environment, with unit testing (e.g., JUnit).
- Experience in an Agile/Dev Ops environment.
- Experience with Ansible, Jenkins, containers, and the Spring Framework.
- Experience with AWS cloud technologies.
- Security+ certification.
- Experience with Atlassian tools.
- Experience with satellite communication systems and protocols.
- Familiarity with secure coding practices in defense or aerospace settings.
- Competitive salary range: 86,800 USD – 165,200 USD.
