Residency in or relocation to Louisiana is preferred for all positions.

Individuals within the Software Quality Assurance Engineer role deliver automated solutions for software processes. Plans, organizes, coordinates and tracks testing activities to ensure the successful deployment of projects. Uses technical skills, expertise and application knowledge to support clients, developers and testers. Provides knowledge transfer and training to the test team as needed. Performs or participates in various types of testing and post implementation reviews as determined by the project.

Helps to ensure continuous improvement in Quality Assurance processes. A QA engineer is expected to:

• Identify opportunities for inserting more quality within software processes.
• Design and execute QA tests.
• Run tests for databases, systems, networks, applications, hardware and software.
• Identify bugs and quality issues in development, service or business processes.
• Collaborate with other business units to understand the business and ensure their quality needs are being met.
• Engage with development teams, project managers, internal and external customers, senior management, and external vendors.
• Support and enable key business processes through functional testing.
• Maintain strong analytical and communication skills, and work well within a team environment.
• Comply with all laws and regulations associated with duties and responsibilities.

• This role reports to Manager, Software Engineering.

• Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Management required.
• Four years of related experience can be used in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.

• 3 years of experience with quality assurance testing.
• Experience with Epic Tapestry and Cheers preferred.

• Must have experience in a minimum of two of the following technical competencies:
  Selenium, .NET (C#, VB, etc.), VB Script, SQL, HTML5, JavaScript, NUnit, C, XML.
• Requires knowledge and understanding of all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) using waterfall and agile methodologies.
• Demonstrates ability to analyze and solve logical problems such as those found in mathematics, statistics, etc.
• Independently self‑starter with cognitive thinking and logic to solve technical challenges.
• Ability to create and run database queries and stored procedures.
• Develop, document, and maintain functional test cases and other test artifacts such as test data, data validation, and scripts.
• Engineer test data from multiple sources to verify and validate test conditions.
• Report and document defects found during testing and work across functional teams to resolve defects.
• Work on medium‑complex projects with peers and more senior QA engineers; manage multiple projects as a team member.
• Develop and test functional solutions such as databases, queries, views, reports, and dashboards under supervision.
• Ensure testing and test design standards are adhered to, and conduct peer test case reviews.
• Help troubleshoot defects and enhancements to systems and software.
• Track performance and production issues; escale production issues as appropriate.
• Ensure scripted code and tests meet required quality standards.
• Report test/quality status and results to all stakeholders.
• Report defects in the defect system and ensure defect resolution in a timely manner.
• Track and report on issues and enhancement requests for the business in a timely manner.
• Analyze and test new releases/versions of software and may participate in vendor evaluations.
• Apply quality assurance, testing concepts, and methodologies.
• Construct comprehensive test plans based on a thorough understanding of business requirements.
• Impart confidence that a product optimally fulfills customers' expectations.
