Software Development Engineer, SRE; US Federal

About The Team

We focus on outcomes that serve U.S. federal agencies as they modernize the employee lifecycle experience and finance operations. The role supports complex, high‑impact projects that demand rigor, integrity, and long‑term thinking.

This position will support direct or indirect contracts with the U.S. Federal Government, requiring all Workday personnel on the contracts to be United States citizens (naturalized or native). You will manage the operations of our services, liaise between development teams and infrastructure partners, improve architectural and operating practices, and provide on‑call support for these services.

Applicants must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued security clearance. A current TS/SCI w/CI Poly clearance is preferred. Other required qualifications include U.S. citizenship, a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent practical experience), and at least four years of software development experience.

• 4+ years of software development experience in one or more programming languages.

• Designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large‑scale distributed systems.
• Hands‑on operational experience with large‑scale distributed systems.
• Designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting public cloud infrastructure and applications.
• Instrumenting applications for observability (metrics, logging, tracing).
• Capacity planning and performance optimization of distributed systems.
• Knowledge of incident management processes and post‑incident analysis.
• Automating operational tasks and infrastructure provisioning using IaC tools.
• Preferred DoD 8570/8140 compliance (IAT Level II) and a current Computing Environment (CE) credential plus one approved specialty certification (e.g., CompTIA CySA+, GICSP, CASP+).

Base Pay Range: $137,000 USD – $205,400 USD
Additional U.S. Location(s) Base Pay Range: $123,900 USD – $222,000 USD
Eligibility for bonus plan, commission, and annual stock grants applies to a multifaceted compensation package.

We combine in‑person and remote work. Teams spend at least 50% of each quarter in the office or in the field to foster connection and collaboration, while maintaining flexible schedule options for remote “home office” roles.
