Job Description

The Junior Service Now Developer will support the development, testing, maintenance, and enhancement of Service Now applications and platform capabilities supporting HHS financial management modernization initiatives. This role will work under the guidance of senior developers and technical leads while contributing to Agile development teams delivering custom business applications and process automation solutions.

The Junior Developer will participate in software development activities throughout the application lifecycle, including requirements analysis, development, testing, deployment, documentation, and production support.

• Develop and maintain Service Now applications, workflows, forms, and automation solutions.
• Participate in Agile sprint activities and support user story implementation.
• Assist with application configuration, customization, and testing.
• Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and data visualizations.
• Support defect identification, troubleshooting, and resolution activities.
• Assist with platform upgrades and application deployments.
• Create technical documentation, user guides, and knowledge articles.
• Support data imports, integrations, and system configuration activities.
• Participate in unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing support.
• Assist with monitoring application performance and system health.
• Support security compliance activities and remediation efforts.
• Collaborate with business analysts, developers, testers, and stakeholders to deliver quality solutions.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and process modernization efforts.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 1–3 years of software development experience.
• 1+ year of Service Now development, administration, or platform support experience.
• Basic knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and web application development.
• Understanding of Agile software development methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to learn new technologies and work in a fast-paced environment.

• Certified System Administrator (CSA)
• Certified Application Developer (CAD)
• Service Now Micro-Certifications
• Service Now Certified Implementation Specialist (desired but not required)

• Experience with Service Now application development or administration.
• Experience supporting SaaS platforms.
• Experience with Agile development teams.
• Experience with testing and quality assurance processes.
• Experience supporting federal government programs.
• Familiarity with Dev Sec Ops  concepts and CI/CD pipelines.
• Exposure to financial management, reporting, grants, or business process automation systems.

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust background investigation (HHS Position Sensitivity Level 5/Moderate Risk).
• U.S. Citizenship required.

• Remote with occasional travel to HHS facilities in Washington, DC, as required.
• Hybrid support model supporting government, contractor, and remote environments.
