Job Description

The video platform of Dailymotion allows millions of creators to upload, transform, and distribute video content around the world. To support our growth, we are strengthening our Video team and are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join a team of 4 backend engineers.

You will work closely with Architects, Product Managers, and Scrum Masters to design and evolve the backend systems at the heart of our video ecosystem: from DRM configuration APIs used by other teams, to video processing pipelines that transform each upload to be viewable on any device (smartphone, computer, connected TV...).

Concretely, you will:

Design and develop backend systems via REST APIs, particularly around DRM and content configuration, used by other teams at Dailymotion.
Design and improve video processing systems (scheduling, state machines, processing tasks) that transform raw uploads into viewable content on all devices.
Design and improve the video upload system, with a strong focus on performance, cost control, and resilience.
Mobilize your analytical skills on Big Data issues at the scale of several petabytes of video.
Be proactive on platform evolutions and improvements

Qualifications

What We Are Looking For First And Foremost

Technical Stack

+8 years of experience in backend architecture and development (backend services, automated tests), with a solid understanding of object-oriented design and experience with one or more languages of our stack: PHP, Go, Python, Java. Our stack is evolving: we are gradually reducing PHP (especially to read, no longer to develop), and new developments are preferably in Go, Java, and Python.
Proficiency in a containerization solution:
Docker or Podman.
Solid experience in building REST APIs.

Data & Cloud

Experience with SQL databases; experience with No

SQL (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) is a plus, especially if you have managed both relational and non-relational databases.
Experience in developing and deploying applications on cloud platforms, ideally AWS.

Languages

English B2 level (documentation, presentations, meetings).
French required, as the team communicates mainly in French daily.

What Makes You Stand Out An interest or first experience in video, without it being blocking if you just want to discover, as well as an appetite for setting up and integrating LLM (no need to be an ML Engineer), we are thinking in particular of future automatic subtitle generation pipelines.
