Location: Columbia

Position Purpose

Write or debug programs to maintain and control computer systems software, such as operating systems, networked systems, and database systems. Provide technical and disaster recovery support for systems software. Performs work under minimal supervision. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter. Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group.

Government Clearance

This position requires the ability to obtain a security clearance, which requires applicants to be a U.S. Citizen. This position is not eligible for sponsorship now or in the future.

Location

This position is full‑time (Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week), consisting of a mandatory three days in the office Tuesday‑Thursday and two days working from home Monday/Friday (please note at times there may be a business need of in office depending on workload and priority level) in Columbia, South Carolina. This position operates within a fast paced, multi-platformed environment which may require action and response 24X7 to support the technical business needs of the customer.

What

You’ll Do
  • Research and analyze complex systems software problems and issues to implement workable solutions or elevate as appropriate.
  • Install, test, and maintain systems software including installing updates, upgrades, and patches, initiating tests of system programs and observing results to detect errors or work stoppage, and modifying code to correct errors.
  • Assist in internal and external audits being performed across multiple lines of business.
  • Participate in planning and execution of disaster recovery procedures.
  • Cross train in all areas of systems programming in order to efficiently perform on‑call rotation.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s in a related field. (Or Associate’s degree plus a total of 6 years of required work experience, or 8 total years of required work experience.)
  • Experience:

    4 years of IT experience including varied programming experience.
  • Skills:

    Strong analytical and logical thinking skills; comprehension of advanced data storage techniques, basic database philosophy, database management and advanced programming techniques; understanding of production systems maintenance and effect of system changes; solid understanding of programming productivity tools and quality assurance strategies.
  • Software/Tools:
    Standard office equipment.
  • Preferred:
    Experience with mainframe technologies (Db2, z/OS, SYSVIEW, or other IBM mainframe products); experience working within a cross‑functional team; proven ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
