Position: Staff Software Engineer - US Remote

Perfect Serve is a leading provider of clinical communication and physician scheduling solutions in the health IT space. Founded in 1997, the company has grown steadily, reaching 400+ employees, 30,000+ customers, and $100 million+ in annual revenue. Our mission is to accelerate speed to care by optimizing provider schedules and routing communications—messages, pages, calls, and alerts—to the right place at the right time in any care setting.

By facilitating real‑time information sharing, building better schedules, and automating important clinical workflows, we help our customers advance patient care and improve clinician well‑being.

Staff Software Engineer

This senior individual‑contributor role leads technical strategy and design across our Python‑ and React‑based platform. The staff engineer works closely with engineering managers, architects, and product leaders to drive architectural decisions, influence cross‑team initiatives, and deliver high‑impact solutions. The position is remote‑friendly and org‑wide.

Technical Leadership
  • Define and drive architectural decisions that span multiple teams and services.
  • Identify and resolve high‑priority technical risks, bottlenecks, and systemic issues across the platform.
  • Own the technical direction of cross‑team initiatives from inception through delivery.
  • Establish and champion engineering standards, patterns, and best practices.
  • Contribute production‑quality code to critical, high‑complexity features and platform services using Python and React.
  • Lead major refactors and modernization efforts to improve performance, observability, and maintainability.
  • Write and review Kubernetes manifests, Helm charts, and CI/CD pipeline configurations (Jenkins, ArgoCD).
  • Implement and promote automated testing strategies—unit, integration, and end‑to‑end.
  • Serve as a technical mentor and thought partner to engineers.
  • Lead internal tech talks, brown bags, and documentation efforts.
  • Participate actively in the engineering hiring process.
  • Model the behaviors of a high‑trust, high‑ownership engineering culture.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Product Owners and QA leads to shape roadmap priorities.
  • Communicate complex technical tradeoffs clearly to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Dev Ops and platform teams to improve infrastructure automation and observability.
  • Represent engineering in cross‑functional planning forums.
Required

Skills & Qualifications
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, 3+ years at a senior or staff level.
  • Deep expertise in Python and a modern web framework (Django, FastAPI, or Flask); proficiency in React or comparable frontend framework.
  • Experience leading the design and delivery of complex, multi‑team technical initiatives.
  • Strong command of distributed systems concepts: service decomposition, event‑driven architectures, API design, caching, and data consistency.
  • Proficiency with Kubernetes, Docker, and modern CI/CD tool chains (Jenkins, Helm, ArgoCD).
  • Advanced knowledge of PostgreSQL or similar relational databases at scale.
  • Hands‑on experience with AWS cloud services (ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, SQS/SNS, Cloud Watch).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Track record of improving engineering culture and practices through mentorship, documentation, process improvements, or tooling.
Beneficial Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience in healthcare technology, particularly with HIPAA‑compliant systems.
  • Familiarity with message queue systems such as RabbitMQ or Kafka.
  • Experience with observability and monitoring platforms (New Relic, Datadog, Prometheus/Grafana).
  • Contributions to internal developer experience tooling or engineering enablement initiatives.
  • Experience with GoLang or other backend languages in a polyglot environment.
