Lead React Native Developer - Remote React Native | Complier | Expo | Zus

Overview

A fast-growing tech organisation is embarking on a major product evolution and is looking for an experienced Lead React Native Developer to join their team. This is a key engineering role working on consumer-facing mobile products used across Europe.

The team currently maintains iOS and Android applications built from a shared React Native codebase. The next phase of their roadmap is a multi-year effort to deliver a fully universal application—bringing mobile and web together under one aligned architecture.

While the exact balance between web and mobile will be finalised next year, the expectation is to unify 70–90% of the functional layers and core foundations. You’ll play a major role in shaping that direction.

• Fully remote within Europe

• Contribute to the evolution of a large-scale React Native app towards a universal (web + mobile) architecture
• Implement new features and performance improvements across iOS and Android
• Collaborate on shared functional models, design patterns, and architectural roots for a unified codebase
• Improve developer experience and contribute to tooling around Expo, React Compiler, and state management
• Work closely with product, design, and backend teams in an international, remote-first environment

• Lead-level expertise in React Native (commercial, production-scale apps)
• Strong understanding of the React Compiler and modern React patterns
• Experience working with Expo in production
• Experience using AI tools such as Claude or Cursor for AI-assisted coding.
• Practical experience with Zustand or similar lightweight state-management tooling
• Solid proficiency with Mapbox and geospatial components within mobile apps
• Comfortable working on cross-platform architecture (iOS, Android, and ideally web)
• Ability to contribute to forward-looking technical decisions around shared app structure
