Senior Software Engineer

Salary: $20‑30 per hour (approximately $184,000 – $201,500 annually). Pay may vary based on location, experience, skills, and performance.

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent (PhD acceptable).

• Explore and extend principles within the home and retail domains using emerging technologies such as AR, VR, visual computing, and machine learning.
• Identify high‑impact opportunities and build prototypes to validate them incrementally.
• Deliver clear presentations that resolve ambiguity and demonstrate software solutions; iterate quickly on complex problems.
• Coordinate and collaborate with cross‑functional internal teams and external partners that include Magic Leap, Google, and Adobe.
• Engage with the tech community through blogs, talks, panels, and external outreach to promote Wayfair’s technology brand.
• Provide technical guidance and collaborate across product, engineering, and enterprise teams for strategy, design, implementation, and release.
• Own end‑to‑end work from ideation to shipping, communicating scope, scale, risks, and challenges.

• Strong ability to thrive in ambiguous, evolving environments and navigate complex, fast‑changing paths.
• Multidisciplinary technical expertise and willingness to learn new tools as needed.
• Demonstrated track record of turning concepts into reality in a team setting—ideation, building, persuasion, prototype validation, and driving projects to successful outcomes.
• Minimum 8+ years of R&D experience with a portfolio of innovative initiatives at the intersection of design, engineering, and entrepreneurship.
• OR 3+ years of professional development in multi‑disciplinary R&D environments with a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, HCI, or equivalent.
• Entrepreneurial mindset—continually questioning “what, why, and how.”

Base pay for this hourly role ranges from $184,000 to $201,500 annually. Incentives, stock options, and comprehensive benefits (health, financial, and other perks) may be provided in addition to pay.
