Senior Software Engineer – Wayfair, Baton Rouge, USA.

Hourly Rate: $20–$30 per hour.
Base Salary: $207,000–$230,000 (annual, if applicable).

Location:

Baton Rouge, USA (hybrid work schedule possible).
Educational requirement:
Bachelor's degree (Master's or PhD preferred).

• Explore and advance ideas in the home and retail space using emerging technology such as new user interaction technologies, augmented environments, visual computing, and system learning.
• Identify high‑impact opportunities and construct prototypes to validate feasibility with state‑of‑the‑art technology.
• Deliver engaging reports that clarify ambiguity/complexity and showcase the value of work.
• Coordinate with internal cross‑functional partners and external partners (e.g., Magic, Google, Adobe).
• Participate in the tech and innovation community via blogs/papers, talks, panel discussions, and external outreach.
• Provide technical guidance and collaborate with product, engineering, and business teams on approach, design, implementation, and launch.

• 8+ years of research & development experience with a portfolio demonstrating breadth of projects at the intersection of design, engineering, and entrepreneurship.
• Alternatively, Master's/PhD in computer science, software engineering, or human–computer interaction with 7+ years of experience in multidisciplinary R&D environments.
• Proficiency in rapidly prototyping and navigating ambiguous problem spaces.
• Strong communication skills for ideation, case building, persuasion, hypothesis testing, feedback incorporation, and driving initiatives to successful outcomes.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on problem definition and solution design.
