Resilience Engineering aids teams at Netflix to understand the impact of a change before it reaches production. Our platform and tools leverage the Netflix services to safely deliver changes and ensure they behave as expected. We provide confidence that a change has the intended effect and help detect unintended side‑effects that could affect Netflix users (e.g., increased error costs or latency).

We also facilitate chaos engineering, which mimics failure scenarios to answer questions such as “what happens if latency or error rates surge?”

We are a distributed team with members both in-office and remote, meeting in person quarterly. In 2023, our focus areas include:

• Building the system that validates changes across the Netflix fleet
• Developing new approaches, with the aim of reducing false positives, to detect negative impacts of changes
• Enhancing existing validation tools to improve reliability

You will be a full-stack developer who excels in both front‑end and back‑end development. You enjoy collaborating with multiple teams and using your communication skills to influence product strategy. You are product‑centered, taking ownership of design, development, and delivery to turn user pain points into elegant solutions. You have experience or security credentials for deploying systems, troubleshooting, and understanding failure modes.

You are curious and thrive on ambiguous problems where solutions aren’t (yet) well‑defined.
